Now based in Brooklyn, the emerging Danish artist Emma Grankvist (who performs under the moniker eee gee) released her debut album, Winning, via Future Classic in February and she describes it as “music for the introvert, who is constantly pushed into the uncomfortable extrovert way of how to view the world.”

1. I’m born and raised in Denmark but I moved to New York, so when I’m in Copenhagen I usually stay at my mom’s place. We love to eat breakfast together and this day was no exception. She always gives me such a boost of good energy for the rest of the day.
2. Here’s my dog Lola with some of the merch we made for Winning.
3. We held the album release at my favorite record shop/cafe, BEAT, in Vesterbro with my best friends and family. I sang a couple of songs and then I cried at my own thank you speech. Here I’m with Line and my good friend/favorite danish singer and songwriter Andreas Odbjerg.
4. Jacob with the beanie produced “Smokey” and “Marathon Cry” on my debut album Winning, Lasse and I wrote “Forever Dreaming,” red haired beauty Ericka Jane is an amazing singer and songwriter, and Julie is a force of nature and my best friend.
5. The morning after the album release, I visited my good friend Laura and her dog Ufo in her atelier. She’s a beautiful human being and an incredible clothing designer. Laura’s sustainable and unique label AOA is one of my favorite brands to wear. She helped me find the right outfit for the concert.
6. Here I’m trying on the AOA pants and AOA blouse together with the “Statue of Liberty Crown” I made with Papier-mâché and glittery transparent fabric I found in a store for $5.
7. I had been sick up until the concert, so here I’m nervously drinking my fifth cup of ginger lemon tea while I’m waiting for the rest of the band setting up for soundcheck.
8. …phew soundcheck went great!! This evening we played at the annual Vega’s selected (Vega’s Udvalgte) showcase night, with 5 other upcoming bands. A lot of important music biz people attend this event, so everyone hopes to leave a great impression so they can get booked for the summer festivals and future shows.
9. Last run through the set list.
10. We were the second-to-last band playing, so we had a lot of time to get a glass of wine and catch up on life in general.
11. I’m such a makeup illiterate, so luckily boss bitch rapper Josie Amadonna helped me out with an advanced double winged eyeliner.
12. I somehow I do know how to put on mascara though.
13+14. Veil on, veil off.
15. The cutest band ever ready for the show!!!
16. Let’s gooooooo!
17. The show went amazing; we got a six star review in the paper the day after and we couldn’t be happier!
Thank you for following my day <3
